I am a stickler for eye shadow but as of late I am only interested in a bold lip color.Preferably a bold matte. I love satins, cream sheens, and the occasional gloss but mattes are my first love.

The reason behind my profound love for mattes is because they pretty much stay put and if you are on a date followed by dancing only one additional application would be necessary (if that) for the night. Who wants to worry about looking crazy while eating , lipstick on your teeth, or all over your face. I will write about lipsticks in another blog , in this post I want to focus on strictly matte lipstick.  It is important to try on the lipstick before purchase (at least in my opinion). I would not buy lipstick in cvs, or target only because I can not try them on and they no longer provide testers (which is for our benefit because of sanitary reasons). So I stick to department stores, and mac of course. Do not misconstrue just because it is expensive or a popular brand does not mean it has excellent products. Some companies make certain products better than others.  (we will save that for another blog post).  Here are a couple of matte lips that I love all from Mac so it is reasonable priced.

There is a trick (or at least I like to think so) to applying matte lipstick. Although you get a smooth finish matte can be dry so proper lip moisturization is necessary. Here is a regimen that I use to ensure there are no scales and a smooth lip. I get rid of dead and/ or dry skin my lip using an exfoliate. I use an exfoliate from Mary K which I still use because I want to finish the bottle. I now use a lip scrub from Lush I love it is has different scents and flavors to choose from. Depending on the last time you exfoliated it is necessary to exfoliate prior to application of the lipstick. Exfoliate, then use a moisturizer a thin layer (it is imperative to remove excess you do not want the matte to turn into a creamsheen or regular lipstick and bleed) after a few min to ensure proper drying apply your lip pencil or lip liner to precisely cover outer lip and flawless coverage. I buy  or make sure I always have a liner compatible to the lipstick I purchase.

I hope this helps you make a decision I love Matte lipsticks . Please share your favorites, below are some mattes that I love.
