Britney Fousheé. Every week at Labella Morenita we will be highlighting one musical artist of the week to celebrate their accomplishments, music, style and more. This week we have chosen emerging singer “Fousheé”. Britney Fousheé, who now simply goes by Fousheé, was first introduced when she auditioned for Season 15 of the NBC show ‘The Voice’ in 2018. She has her own unique style of music that can be described as Alternative Soul. Though she did not win “The Voice”, it is clear that she was destined for greatness. Since then she has released six songs as well as over 10 amazing action packed visuals. She has also gained recent popularity on the social media platform TikTok from a sample of one of her songs. Rapper Sleepy Hallow used a sample of her song “Deep End” which quickly gained popularity and was used by thousands of people including Dwayne Wade and many other celebrities. The song “Deep End” was released in 2020 and she has since released the full version of the song as well as a visual. When the song was first introduced on TikTok she had to fight to earn the credit for her own song. According to an interview with “The Fader” magazine, Fousheé explains: “The story behind “Deep End” had a lot to do with the creation of the song and video. It’s really a success story for Black Women. It’s about fighting to what what’s due to you because it isn’t always going to be handed to you.” (Elder)
The song essentially symbolizes her gaining the respect and credit she deserves for her song. The visual for the song features Fousheé singing and dancing in a desert on her own until an unknown man starts to chase her. The video also contains a fight scene where she kicks the man’s ass 70’s action movie style and escapes to finish with a sweet guitar solo. Fousheé’s music is unique, catchy, and fast on the rise. My favorite song has to be “Single AF”. Fousheé definitely has an affinity for the past as the video for ‘Single AF’ seems to be set in the 80’s. The video features Fousheé singing in an old living room with shag carpets, groovy lamps and colorful artwork. The video was colorful, unique, and features Fousheé on a vintage TV for advertising a break up hotline. Fousheé is most definitely on her way to becoming a star. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Fousheé next! Check her out on the links below. Until next week, Ciao Bellas.
